Grace Greenleaf returns to her childhood home, where she reconnects with her family and old friends. She is still reeling from the discovery that her mother, Lady Mae, had orchestrated the cover-up of her father's death. Grace learns that her mother has set up a retreat center for women and wants her to be a part of it. Meanwhile, Charity Greenleaf-Satterlee is busy running the church, but dealing with her own personal problems. She discovers that her husband is secretly meeting with another woman and confronts him, but he denies any wrongdoing.
At the same time, Bishop Greenleaf continues to struggle with his health and has fleeting moments of lucidity. Lady Mae is desperate to keep the truth about his condition a secret, as it would damage their reputation and affect their church. She enlists the help of their family physician to lie to Bishop's doctor, but the physician suggests that she tell the truth to their congregation.
The family also prepares for the funeral of the church's longtime organist, who had been a close friend to them. Grace reconnects with old friends and has a heart-to-heart talk with her childhood crush, Darius Nash. Darius has recently started digging into the Greenleaf family's past and uncovers some shocking information that could destroy their church and reputation.
Meanwhile, Jacob Greenleaf is dealing with the fallout of his affair with Alexa Campbell, the host of a popular Christian talk show. He tries to make amends with his wife, Kerissa, but she is not willing to forgive him so easily. In addition, he faces pressure from the church's financial backers to make some difficult decisions that could put his job in jeopardy.
As tensions rise within the Greenleaf family, they must come together to confront their past and find a way to move forward. The Second Day is a riveting episode that delves deeper into the character's relationships and personal struggles, while also setting up the season's overarching plotlines. With excellent performances from the talented cast and masterful direction, Greenleaf continues to be a standout drama series that explores the complexities of family, faith, and personal redemption.
