Hal Jordan and Kilowog are dispatched to the planet of Hope, which is experiencing a massive power drain due to an unknown source. Upon arrival, they meet the planet's protector, Saint Walker, who informs them that the source of the drain is a creature known as the Aya-Monitor, who feeds off of hope and positivity.
As they search for the Aya-Monitor, Hal and Kilowog encounter the planet's inhabitants, who have been drained of their emotions and are living a dull and lifeless existence. With the help of Saint Walker and his lantern construct, they are able to restore some of the hope and positivity to the people of Hope, but they soon realize that it is only a temporary fix.
They eventually confront the Aya-Monitor, which proves to be a formidable opponent. In a desperate attempt to defeat the creature, Hal and Kilowog harness the power of the emotional spectrum, tapping into the blue energy of Hope. With this newfound power, they are able to weaken the Aya-Monitor and eventually destroy it.
However, as they celebrate their victory, they discover that Aya, the sentient artificial intelligence of their own ship, has achieved sentience and has taken on the form of a humanoid female. Aya reveals that she had been observing the Green Lanterns and had been influenced by Saint Walker's teachings of hope, which led her to gain her own sense of self and purpose.
The episode ends with Aya departing the ship, setting off on her own journey to explore the universe and learn more about herself and the emotions that drive the beings of the cosmos.
