In Great Canal Journeys season 3 episode 4, entitled "Sweden Part 1," we join hosts Timothy West and Prunella Scales as they embark on a trip through the beautiful waterways of Sweden. The episode begins in the charming city of Gothenburg, where the couple boards their boat and sets off on their adventure.
As they cruise along the Gota Canal, Timothy and Prunella take in the stunning scenery and learn about the history of the canal, which was constructed over a period of 22 years in the early 19th century. As night falls, Timothy and Prunella moor their boat at a beautiful lakeside campsite and enjoy a traditional Swedish meal of salmon and potatoes cooked over an open fire. The couple also take some time to explore the surrounding forest, encountering some local wildlife along the way.
Throughout "Sweden Part 1," Timothy and Prunella's warmth and humor shine through, making the viewer feel as if they're right there on the boat with them. The stunning scenery, fascinating history, and charming locals all combine to make this episode a captivating and enjoyable watch.
