Grand Army season 1 episode 7, titled "Making Moves," follows the lives of five high school students as their intertwining stories unfold. The episode mainly focuses on Joey (Odley Jean), who is struggling to find her place in the world after dropping out of school. She spends most of her days at the gym, practicing boxing and hoping to turn pro one day.
Meanwhile, Leila (Amalia Yoo) is still working to gain her parents' approval and trust after the party incident. She teams up with Otis (Isiah Whitlock Jr.), the school's guidance counselor, to organize a fundraiser gala for the school's drama department. Leila hopes that the success of the fundraiser will prove to her parents that she is responsible and trustworthy.
Elsewhere, Dom (Odessa A'zion) is still struggling with her sexuality and trying to figure out how to come out to her friends and family. She confides in Joey, who offers her support and reassurance.
Siddhartha (Amir Bageria) is also dealing with his own personal struggles. He is falling behind in his classes and facing pressure from his parents to succeed academically. Despite this, he continues to pursue his passion for music and develops a romantic connection with Meera (Amar Chadha-Patel), a fellow classmate.
Finally, Jayson (Maliq Johnson) is still trying to navigate his relationships with his friends and family. His sister, Dominique (Crystal Nelson), is struggling with her own personal issues and Jayson feels compelled to support her.
Overall, this episode explores the themes of identity, community, and perseverance as the characters continue to face their own personal challenges. Despite their struggles, they come together to support each other and work towards their goals.
