Ep 1. A Dark Knight: Pax Penguina

In the season 4 premiere of Gotham, titled "A Dark Knight: Pax Penguina," we see a city under the control of a new criminal mastermind, Oswald Cobblepot (aka the Penguin). Cobblepot has become the de facto mayor of Gotham, putting his stamp on every aspect of the city and ensuring that his goons and henchmen are the ones pulling the strings.

The episode opens with a baroque and over-the-top party thrown by Cobblepot to celebrate his new position of power. Meanwhile, Jim Gordon (played by Ben McKenzie) is no longer a cop - he's now a bounty hunter, a necessary job after the events of the season 3 finale. The city is in chaos, and it seems like the only way to survive is to give in to Cobblepot's demands.

But not everyone is willing to bend the knee to the Penguin. We see the introduction of new character, Sofia Falcone (played by Crystal Reed), the daughter of another notorious Gotham City crime boss. She has come to town to take on the Penguin and take back control of the city for her family.

Of course, Jim Gordon can't stay out of trouble for long. He finds himself embroiled in the machinations of the Penguin, Sofia Falcone, and others who seek to take advantage of the city's instability. His efforts to do the right thing put him in danger and lead him down a dark path.

We also see the return of Bruce Wayne (played by David Mazouz), who is struggling to come to grips with the new status quo in Gotham. He finds himself at a crossroads, questioning whether he should continue to operate as a vigilante or whether he should take a more active role in shaping the future of Gotham City.

As usual, Gotham is a dark and twisted place, full of shady characters and corrupt officials. But "A Dark Knight: Pax Penguina" sets the stage for what promises to be an intense and exciting season. Will Gordon and the other heroes be able to take back the city from the claws of the Penguin? Or will they succumb to the corruption and malaise that plagues Gotham? Only time will tell.
