Ep 5. The Fasting and the Furious

It's time for the annual fast, but this year's fast takes a surprising turn when Blair (Leighton Meester) decides to participate. She's surprised, however, when she discovers that her best friend and confidante, Serena (Blake Lively), is also fasting. And when Chuck (Ed Westwick) and Nate (Chace Crawford) both decide to participate in the fast as well, Blair starts to worry that something is going on between them. Meanwhile, Dan (Penn Badgley) tries to get closer to his new assistant, Ivy (Kaylee DeFer), by inviting her to a dinner party, but things take a disastrous turn when he reveals a secret about her past. Finally, Lola (Ella Rae Peck) decides to confront her mother, Serena's cousin, about something that happened in the past. As tensions continue to rise between the characters, it remains to be seen whether they can make it through this trying time without completely falling apart.
