In Gosick season 1 episode 2, titled "E 2," we continue to follow Kazuya Kujo, a transfer student at Saint Marguerite Academy in Sauville, a small European country in the 1920s. He meets Victorique de Blois, a mysterious girl who spends her days in the library, surrounded by books. She has a sharp mind and solves mysteries that even the police in Sauville can't seem to crack.
The episode starts with Kazuya waking up in a train carriage, confused and disoriented. He had fallen asleep on the train and missed his stop, but luckily he's able to hitch a ride with a passing cart full of hay. He ends up landing outside an abandoned mansion in the countryside, and decides to explore inside.
Inside the mansion, he comes across a room with a television set, unusual for the time period. The TV is tuned in on a news broadcast about a string of recent murders in Sauville, the details of which are very similar to one of Victorique's favorite novels. It seems someone is copying the murders from the book, which leads her to believe that the culprit is not someone who would have the murderous capability on their own.
Kazuya is drawn in by the story and stays with Victorique to figure out the source of the murders. Together, they explore the mansion and discover clues that lead them to the conclusion that the murderer is not working alone. They are also able to find out the killer's identity and motives, while uncovering past secrets and hidden truths.
The dynamics between the two main characters, Kazuya and Victorique are highlighted throughout the episode. Kazuya is a curious and intelligent young man, but he can be quite naive at times. Victorique, on the other hand, is wise beyond her years and possesses a razor-sharp intellect. She is also very eccentric in her behavior and way of life. Despite their differences, the two make a formidable team and together they are able to uncover the truth behind many mysteries.
Overall, Gosick season 1 episode 2, "E 2," is an engaging and suspenseful installment of the series that continues to develop the story of Kazuya and Victorique while also throwing them into a twisted murder mystery. As the two characters work together to unravel the secrets of the mansion, viewers are swept along for a thrilling and highly entertaining ride.
