Pete and Goofy have been assigned to lead an event to clean up Spoonerville's park but things start to go wrong when they disagree over how to carry out the task. Pete wants to get the job done quickly and efficiently so they can leave early and catch a game on TV, whilst Goofy takes a more laid back approach, preferring to take his time and enjoy the work. As the two butt heads, tensions rise and the park starts to suffer - trash bags are left half-filled, playground equipment is ruined, and paint is accidentally spilled everywhere.
Their bickering hits a peak when they both want to use the only remaining tool to fix the last piece of equipment in the park, and a tug of war ensues. The tool ends up breaking and the two are left to try and mend the equipment themselves. During their work they discover that they can only fix the equipment by combining their different approaches - Pete's knowledge of tools and machinery, and Goofy's creative problem solving. They set their previous differences aside and manage to fix the equipment beautifully.
Pete and Goofy both realize that they were wrong to judge each other's methods and that by working together they achieved their goal much more effectively than if they had worked alone. They finish cleaning up the park together, enjoying each other's company and actually having fun while doing the work.
The episode ends with Goofy and Pete finding out that their TV is broken, and rather than letting it get them down, they decide to spend the evening playing their own games and singing songs together - something they wouldn't have done if they hadn't learned to work together.
