Goodbye Mr. Black is a South Korean television drama that follows the life of a former Navy SEAL, Cha Ji-won, who is betrayed and left for dead by his best friend and commanding officer, Min Sun-jae. After miraculously surviving the assassination attempt, Cha Ji-won adopts a new identity and returns to Seoul with a single-minded goal: to seek revenge against the friend who betrayed him.
In Episode 1, we see Cha Ji-won, now operating under the name Kim Swan, making his way to Cambodia. There, he meets a young Khmer girl named Nana, whom he befriends and helps to rescue from her abusers. By doing so, he attracts the attention of a powerful gangster named Doha, who is trying to track him down.
As Kim Swan fights to stay under the radar, he receives word that his former friend and betrayer, Min Sun-jae, has resurfaced in Seoul. Determined to make his move, Kim Swan lays low for a while before finally booking a flight back to his homeland.
Upon his return, we are introduced to the supporting cast of characters who will play crucial roles in the series. There's Kim Swan's childhood friend, Swansoo, who is running a small restaurant and eagerly awaits his friend's return. There's also Kim Ji-soo, the widow of a Navy SEAL who died in the same operation as Kim Swan, and who is now working as a reporter covering the government's crackdown on corruption.
As Kim Swan begins his campaign to take down Min Sun-jae, he must navigate a complex web of power politics and personal relationships. Along the way, he picks up some unlikely allies, including the tough-as-nails Detective Search and the intelligent and resourceful Yoon-Mi.
Meanwhile, Min Sun-jae is making his move to cement his power as a major player in the criminal underworld. He enlists the help of a powerful businessman, Seo Jae-won, to help fund a new arms deal that will attract buyers from around the world. But Seo Jae-won has his sights set on even bigger things, and begins to plot against Min Sun-jae.
As the first episode of Goodbye Mr. Black comes to a close, we see Kim Swan finally come face-to-face with the man who betrayed him. But as he sets his plan in motion, he realizes that revenge may not be as satisfying as he thought it would be... and that there may be more at stake than just his personal vendetta.
Overall, Episode 1 sets the stage for a tense and thrilling drama that explores themes of loyalty, betrayal, and redemption. With a talented cast and a gripping plot, Goodbye Mr. Black is a must-watch for fans of action-packed television.
