Ep 8. Breaker, Breaker

Florida finds a distressing note from the electric company stating that their power will be shut off due to excessive unpaid bills. She tries to keep it hidden from the rest of the family, but J.J. intercepts the letter and rallies the family to come up with a plan to raise the money needed to pay the bills. They decide to hold a benefit concert featuring Florida, who is an accomplished singer. But trouble arises when the assigned soundman for the event, named Breaker (played by Roscoe Lee Browne), becomes drunk and insults Florida. The family must decide whether to forgive Breaker and allow him to continue his work for the benefit or find a new soundman at the last minute. Meanwhile, Thelma is having trouble applying for jobs due to her lack of experience and being turned away for being overqualified. She receives advice from Willona and Michael on how to present herself in the best possible light.
