James and Florida have become increasingly concerned about J.J.'s future since he's always cracking corny jokes and isn't exactly the sharpest tool in the shed academically. They believe that he might not be able to get into college if he doesn't improve his I.Q. scores. After much debating and consideration, they decide that it's time for J.J. to take an I.Q. test.
The family is all gathered in the living room. Everyone's nervous, especially J.J. who has never been particularly interested in academics and has always struggled with school. Michael keeps playfully teasing his older brother, which makes J.J. even more anxious. Despite the tension in the room, the family tries their best to make J.J. feel comfortable and confident.
After J.J. finishes the test, the family anxiously awaits the results. J.J. is sure that he failed, but James and Florida try to reassure him that they'll love and support him no matter what his I.Q. score is. Michael, on the other hand, can't resist making fun of J.J. and his supposed lack of intelligence.
When the results come in, everyone is surprised to find out that J.J. actually scored above average! James and Florida are ecstatic, and J.J. can hardly believe it himself. Even Michael is impressed and admits that he never thought J.J. had it in him.
With his newfound confidence, J.J. decides to apply for an art scholarship to college. He's always been passionate about art, and with his I.Q. score boosting his academic credentials, he feels like he has a real chance at making it into a great school. However, with a lack of funds, J.J. turns to his creative side and creates a work of art to submit to the scholarship committee.
The episode touches on the importance of believing in oneself and the transformative power of support from family and friends. J.J. learns that he is capable of achieving great things and that he should never let anyone else doubt him or his intelligence. The family also learns that there's more to intelligence than just test scores and that everyone has their own unique strengths and talents.
