The Good Times season 2 episode 11 titled "Florida, The Matchmaker" follows the Evans family as Florida tries her hand at matchmaking.
As the episode opens, Florida is watching a romantic film and bemoaning the fact that she can't seem to find love for herself. That's when Willona, her neighbor, reminds her that she's good at setting other people up, so why not give that a try?
Florida takes this suggestion to heart and begins to look for someone who might be a good match for her friend Willona. She settles on a man named Lester, who owns a successful chicken franchise. Florida tries to put them together subtly, but when that doesn't work, she decides to host a dinner party and invite them both.
The dinner party is a disaster, with Florida and Willona bickering and Lester seemingly uninterested in Willona. However, things take a turn when Lester reveals that he's actually interested in Florida. The pair hit it off and begin dating.
Meanwhile, J.J. is dealing with his own romantic troubles. He's trying to win over a girl named Samantha but keeps getting interrupted by her overbearing father. J.J. turns to his dad, James, for advice on how to handle the situation, but James isn't much help. Eventually, J.J. stands up to Samantha's father and the two are able to continue seeing each other.
Throughout the episode, we see the Evans family coming together to support each other through their various romantic troubles. At one point, Michael even offers to play chess with his mom to keep her mind off of her love life.
Overall, "Florida, The Matchmaker" is a heartwarming episode that showcases the importance of family and the difficulties of finding love. Florida's attempts at matchmaking may not have gone as planned, but in the end, she finds love for herself and helps her friends along the way.
