In the season 5 premiere of Good Bones titled "Fountain Square Flashback," mother-daughter duo Karen and Mina are back in business renovating homes in their beloved hometown of Indianapolis. This time around, they set their sights on a stunning 100-year-old home in the heart of Fountain Square, an up-and-coming neighborhood with a rich history and beautiful architecture.
The house is in need of some serious TLC and the ladies are up for the challenge. They begin by tearing down some outdated additions to the home and restoring the original exterior to its former glory. From there, they transform the interior into a modern dream home while still maintaining some of its historic character.
Throughout the episode, we get a glimpse into the neighborhood's fascinating past, including its role as a hub for the arts and theater in the early 1900s. The ladies even incorporate some nods to the neighborhood's history into the design of the home, such as a custom-made mural of a local theater on the living room wall.
As always, Karen and Mina's witty banter and infectious energy keep the show engaging and entertaining. We also get to see more of their personal lives, including Mina's pregnancy and Karen's newfound love of gardening.
Overall, "Fountain Square Flashback" is a strong start to the fifth season of Good Bones. It's a perfect blend of history, design, and personal anecdotes that fans of the show have come to expect and love.
