The episode opens with Sugimoto and Asirpa arriving in the Ainu village where Asirpa grew up. They meet up with Kuroranke, who introduces them to the villagers. The next day, the group sets out to search for some clues about the gold. They come across a village that has been attacked by Russian soldiers, and find a survivor who tells them about a group of escaped prisoners who talked about the gold. The group heads in the direction that the prisoner was talking about, but they are ambushed by the very same group of prisoners.
A brutal fight ensues, with Sugimoto and the rest of the group trying to hold their own against the prisoners. Meanwhile, Kiroranke reveals his true intentions to Asirpa, and tells her that he plans to betray Sugimoto in order to obtain the gold for himself. Asirpa is shocked by this revelation, and begins to wonder who she can trust.
The fight intensifies, and both sides suffer heavy casualties. Asirpa tries to find a way to escape the battle and avoid being caught in the crossfire, but she is unable to do so. In the end, the battle is won by the prisoners, who take Asirpa and some of the others captive. Sugimoto is left alone and wounded, realizing that he has once again failed to keep his promises to his friends.
The episode ends with Sugimoto vowing to find a way to rescue Asirpa and the others, and to stop Kiroranke from betraying them again. The stakes have never been higher for the group, as they face an uncertain future in their search for the fabled gold.
