Asirpa and Sugimoto's journey continues in "Golden Kamuy" season 2 episode 3. Titled "Let's Talk About the Past," the episode picks up where the previous one left off, with Asirpa and Sugimoto meeting with Kiroranke, who is still recovering from his injuries.
Kiroranke reveals that he was once a member of the 7th Division of the Russian Imperial Army, while Asirpa's father Wilk was a member of the Ainu rebel forces. The two met during a battle and formed a bond over their shared love of hunting and survival.
Asirpa is skeptical of Kiroranke's story but Sugimoto believes him, having seen firsthand the lengths Kiroranke was willing to go to protect his own people. The three agree to work together to find the remaining pieces of the treasure map and protect it from the other groups searching for it.
The group heads to a nearby town to gather supplies and information, but they quickly find themselves in a dangerous situation when they are confronted by members of a cult. The cultists worship a giant owl and see Asirpa as a potential sacrifice to the creature.
Asirpa is able to use her knowledge of owls to pacify the creature and escape with her companions. They later learn that the cult is a cover for the group known as the Shinpokai, who are searching for the treasure map.
Asirpa and Sugimoto must now contend not only with the Shinpokai, but also with the Russian army and other groups searching for the treasure. They also continue to learn more about each other's pasts and the complicated history of their respective cultures.
With non-stop action and intrigue, "Golden Kamuy" season 2 episode 3 is a must-watch for fans of the series. Asirpa, Sugimoto, and Kiroranke are a compelling trio, each with their own unique skills and motivations, and viewers will be on the edge of their seats as they navigate the treacherous landscape of Hokkaido in search of the treasure.
