In Gold Rush: Alaska season 5 episode 16, titled "The Monster Lives", the gold mining crews are feeling the pressure as they approach the end of the mining season. Todd Hoffman and his crew are determined to hit one last paydirt and have their sights set on a hot spot they believe could be a game-changer. However, their plans are thwarted when their equipment breaks down, leaving them with just a few short days to fix it and hit their target.
Meanwhile, Tony Beets' crew is hard at work trying to dismantle his monstrous dredge. As they work tirelessly to dismantle the massive structure, tensions rise as they encounter one obstacle after another. Their work is further complicated when a storm front moves in, threatening to bring everything to a grinding halt.
Elsewhere, Parker Schnabel and his team are struggling to hit their target and are left with just one final cut to make. With the clock ticking down, they work feverishly to extract every last ounce of paydirt from the ground. As they near the end of their season, Parker reflects on the challenges and hard work that have brought him to this point.
As the sun sets on another long day in the Alaskan wilderness, the gold mining crews are left to ponder their decisions and reflect on the season that has been. With the end of the mining season fast approaching, every decision could be the difference between success and failure. The question remains – will they hit their targets and strike it rich, or will they leave Alaska empty-handed once again?
