In season 13 episode 3 of Gold Rush, entitled Golden Acres, the gold mining crews are making progress in their efforts to find riches in the Alaskan wilderness. As winter approaches, each team is feeling the pressure to get as much gold out of the ground as possible before the season ends.
Tony Beets and his crew at Paradise Hill are facing some challenges as they try to reach a new area of their claim. They must navigate treacherous terrain and bring in heavy equipment to move tons of dirt. Meanwhile, workers at the Eureka Creek claim are having trouble with their trommel, which is vital to the gold mining process. With time running out, they must find a way to fix it or risk losing their chance to strike it rich.
Over at the Big Nugget mine, Parker Schnabel is focused on expanding his operation. He has acquired a new piece of land, known as Golden Acres, which he hopes will yield a significant amount of gold. The area has not been mined since 1939, so Parker and his team must figure out how to extract the precious metal from the ground.
To begin their search, Parker and his crew drill test holes in various locations to determine where the best gold deposits are. They use a special machine called a sonic drill, which sends vibrations into the ground to extract samples of dirt and rocks. They then test these samples for gold content to decide where to start mining.
As they begin to dig, Parker and his team encounter some unexpected challenges. The ground proves to be more difficult to mine than they originally thought, and they must make adjustments to their equipment in order to continue their search. They also face a setback when a water pump breaks down, threatening to halt their progress.
Despite these obstacles, Parker remains determined to find gold on Golden Acres. He knows that every ounce of the precious metal they extract will make a difference in achieving his goal of becoming the biggest gold miner in Alaska.
Meanwhile, Tony's crew at Paradise Hill finally reaches their new mining area and starts to dig. They believe that they have found a promising spot, but must overcome other challenges, such as a boulder blocking their path. Tony uses his experience to work around these obstacles and keep his team on track.
At Eureka Creek, the trommel is finally repaired, but the crew quickly realizes that they are running out of time. They make the difficult decision to shut down their operation and prepare to leave the claim before winter sets in.
As the season approaches its end, each mining crew is working tirelessly to get as much gold out of the ground as possible. They face setbacks and challenges along the way, but remain determined to strike it rich in the Alaskan wilderness.
