In this episode of Going RV season 7, titled "Louisiana RV Upgrade," we follow the journey of two couples as they search for the perfect RV to upgrade their old, worn-out vehicles.
The first couple, the Miners from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, currently own a Class C RV but are ready for an upgrade. They're looking for a Class A motorhome that's big enough to comfortably accommodate their family of four, including their two kids and two golden retrievers. They're also keen on having plenty of storage space and a large kitchen area to cook their favorite meals while on the road.
The Miners' search takes them to nearby Lafayette, where they meet with RV specialist and salesman Randy Thompson at Dixie RV Superstores. Randy shows the couple a spacious Fleetwood Discovery motorhome, complete with four slide-outs, a large kitchen island, and a master bedroom in the rear of the coach. The Miners love the layout and are impressed with the onboard amenities, which include a full-size refrigerator, dishwasher, and washer and dryer.
But the Miners have one concern - the price tag. The Fleetwood Discovery is significantly more expensive than they had hoped, so Randy takes them on a tour of a more affordable option - a Winnebago Forza. This diesel Class A coach features a full wall slide-out and plenty of storage space, making it a great choice for families with kids and pets on the go. The Miners love the features and the price, so they decide to take the plunge and upgrade to the Forza.
The second couple we follow in this episode is the Hulicks from Gonzales, Louisiana. They currently own a travel trailer but are ready to upgrade to a Class C RV that can accommodate their family of six. They're particularly interested in finding a rig that has bunk beds for the kids and a separate master bedroom for themselves. They're also looking for a rig that can handle some off-road adventures, as they enjoy camping in more rugged terrain.
The Hulicks head to Dixie RV Superstores to meet with sales specialist Alexandria Tobin. Alexandria shows the couple several options, including a Thor Freedom Elite and a Jayco Redhawk. Both coaches have bunk beds that the kids love, but the Redhawk catches the couple's eye due to its unique floor plan. The coach features a private master bedroom in the rear, a compact but convenient kitchen area in the middle, and a large living area in the front. The Hulicks love the Redhawk's spaciousness and the fact that it can handle rough terrain, so they decide to make the upgrade.
Along with the upgrade process, the episode also focuses on some of the challenges that come with RV ownership. We see the Miners struggling with backing their new rig into a tight spot at their storage facility, and the Hulicks realizing that they need to get a handle on their packing and storage strategy before hitting the open road.
Overall, "Louisiana RV Upgrade" is a fun and informative episode of Going RV that shows the joys and challenges of upgrading to a new RV. With helpful tips and advice from RV experts and real-life experiences from couples who have gone through the upgrade process, this episode is must-watch for anyone considering upgrading their own RV.
