In Godzilla: The Series season 2 episode 4 titled "Protector," the team at the HEAT (Humanitarian Environmental Analysis Team) headquarters in Manhattan come across a strange event that triggers a call to action. A pack of wolves is seen attacking the downtown area of the city, which is highly unusual and poses a significant threat to human life and property.

As the team tries to apprehend the animals, they quickly realize that these wolves are not ordinary. They are significantly larger, more aggressive, and emit a strange energy frequency that causes electronic devices to malfunction. It becomes evident that these wolves have been mutated by exposure to radiation and that their presence is a warning of more dangerous mutations to come.

Randy Hernandez, one of the core members of the HEAT team and a close friend of Godzilla, is called to investigate the event and prevent further harm. Randy is entrusted with a new weapon, a prototype electromagnetic net, which is designed to temporarily neutralize the energy fields emitted by the mutated creatures. With this weapon in hand, Randy sets out to investigate the threat and put a stop to it.

As Randy follows the mutated wolves, he notices that they are leading him towards a large abandoned building on the outskirts of the city. Inside, he finds an enormous mutated creature that seems to be in a state of hibernation. Randy takes samples of the creature for further analysis and realizes that it is a mutated crocodile that has been affected by the same energy field that caused the wolf pack's mutation.

The team at HEAT dubs the mutant crocodile "El Gusano Gigante," which means the giant worm in Spanish, due to its worm-like appearance. As they study the creature, they discover that the energy frequency it emits is not only dangerous but also powerful enough to paralyze the human nervous system. This means that the creature has the potential to cause significant harm to human populations in the city.

However, the HEAT team realizes that El Gusano Gigante is not an aggressive creature by nature. It is doing whatever it can to protect its offspring, which are growing in a nearby pond. El Gusano Gigante is an essential part of its ecosystem, and it is only reacting this way because it perceives a threat to its young.

With this new understanding, the team at HEAT decides to take a different approach to deal with the situation. Rather than attacking the creature, they decide to help protect its offspring and ensure that El Gusano Gigante has no further reason to threaten human populations.

As the team races to move El Gusano Gigante's offspring to safety, the creature suddenly awakens and emerges from its hibernation. It naturally heads towards its young, and the HEAT team tries to prevent it from causing harm to human populations. Randy uses his new electromagnetic net to try and incapacitate El Gusano Gigante, but it proves futile.

It is Godzilla who comes to the rescue. He senses the danger posed by the giant worm and rushes to the scene. A massive showdown between the two mutants ensues, and it is apparent that Godzilla has the upper hand. In the end, Godzilla prevails, and El Gusano Gigante retreats to the safety of the abandoned building.

This episode of Godzilla: The Series season 2 titled "Protector" sends a powerful message about the importance of understanding and protecting all forms of life. It shows that even the most ferocious and powerful creatures, when placed in an ecosystem, act to maintain balance and protect their young. The real threat is not the creatures themselves but the forces that cause them to mutate. The HEAT team and Godzilla unite to ensure that El Gusano Gigante's and its offspring's lives are protected, sending a message of hope or finding peaceful solutions.
