The episode begins with Diego receiving a special call from a group of African animals in need of his help. Curious and ever-ready for action, Diego wastes no time and, with his trusty backpack, jumps aboard his Rescue Rover to embark on the ultimate African safari.
Arriving in the vast and diverse landscapes of Africa, Diego is greeted by his sister, Alicia, who is already there, assisting a group of elephants. As they reunite, Alicia informs Diego about the various animals they have encountered on their mission so far, including giraffes, zebras, and rhinos. Excited by the prospect of discovering and interacting with these incredible creatures, Diego joins Alicia in her efforts.
Their first task is to find the elusive African lion, King. Equipped with his Rescue Pack, Diego uses his keen animal knowledge to track down King's hiding spot. Along the way, he encounters numerous other animals, such as mischievous monkeys swinging from trees and colorful birds soaring through the sky. Diego takes this opportunity to teach young viewers about the unique characteristics and behaviors of each animal.
As Diego and Alicia continue their search, they stumble upon a group of playful cheetah cubs. The cubs seem to be lost, separated from their family. Diego realizes that he must help reunite them with their mother before they encounter any danger. With his expert guidance and resourcefulness, Diego comes up with a plan to communicate with the cubs using cheetah-like sounds, coaxing them back to their waiting mother.
Onward with their adventure, Diego and Alicia find themselves in the heart of the African savanna, surrounded by grazing wildebeests and graceful gazelles. It is here that they encounter a baby hippo named Hoppy, who finds himself stranded in a muddy watering hole. Once again, Diego jumps into action, utilizing his knowledge of animal behavior to safely rescue Hoppy. With the aid of his Rescue Rope, Diego skillfully approaches the distressed baby hippo, carefully pulling him to safety.
Continuing their African safari, Diego and Alicia's path leads them to a vast river teeming with diverse aquatic life. They come across a group of stranded river otters in desperate need of assistance. Utilizing his observation skills, Diego quickly identifies a fallen tree branch as the main obstacle preventing the otters from swimming to safety. With the assistance of Alicia, Diego formulates a plan to remove the branch using teamwork and problem-solving skills. Through their efforts, the otters are reunited with their river family, splashing happily into the water.
The thrilling adventure doesn't end there, as Diego and Alicia finally manage to locate King, the African lion. With kindness and understanding, Diego establishes a rapport with the magnificent lion, ensuring King's safety and wellbeing.
