Diego and Baby Jaguar are in the prairie looking for a new friend to play with when they hear a strange noise. They follow the sound to discover a prairie dog named Panchita who has lost her babies. Panchita explains that a coyote had scared her babies out of their burrow and now they are lost. Diego and Baby Jaguar promise to help find the missing prairie dog babies.
Diego and Baby Jaguar search all over the prairie for the lost prairie dog babies. Along the way, they come across other animals who offer to help them in their search. They meet a hawk who helps them look from above to get a better view of the prairie, a snake who helps them look under rocks, and a rabbit who helps them search for tracks.
As they continue their search, Diego and Baby Jaguar realize that they need to call on some of their other animal friends for help. They use their field journal to find the right animals and call them with their animal communicator. They call on a pack of wolves to help search for the lost prairie dog babies. The wolves use their keen sense of smell to track down the babies.
When they finally find the lost prairie dog babies, they discover that they have fallen down a hole. But the hole is too small for Diego and Baby Jaguar to fit through. In order to rescue the babies, they need to enlist the help of their other animal friends. The pack of wolves dig a tunnel to reach the babies, and the hawk helps lift them out of the hole with her talons.
Diego and Baby Jaguar reunite Panchita with her babies and the prairie dog family joyfully reunites. Diego reminds Panchita to always keep her babies safe by teaching them the importance of staying close to their burrow. The episode ends with Panchita and her babies all safe and happy in their burrow.
