In the final episode of Glee's third season, titled "Goodbye," the New Directions prepare for graduation and say goodbye to each other as they move on to the next chapter of their lives. Mr. Schuester encourages the seniors to leave their mark on the school with a final assignment, in which they have to perform a song that represents who they are and how they want to be remembered.
Meanwhile, Rachel struggles with the decision of whether to go to New York and pursue her dream of becoming a Broadway star or stay in Lima and be with Finn. Finn is also conflicted about his own future, as he tries to figure out what direction his life should take after high school.
The episode features a heartfelt tribute to Whitney Houston, which serves as a reminder of the power of music to inspire and heal. The New Directions band together to perform some of her greatest hits, including "How Will I Know" and "I Will Always Love You," in a tribute that is both emotional and uplifting.
In addition to the Whitney Houston tribute, "Goodbye" features several other standout performances, including a touching rendition of Green Day's "Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)" by the graduating seniors, as well as a medley of classic songs from the musical Grease.
