The episode Props kicks off with the New Directions members walking down the hallway, and then Tina ventures from the group, heading to the restroom. She seemingly slams into the glass wall, and when the glee club comes to check on her, something strange happens- she thinks that she's now Rachel, and the others have assumed the identities of different glee club members. Tina has hit her head so hard on the wall that she is experiencing a unique syndrome, in which she sees everything in her life from someone else's point of view. Now, the New Directions' members start helping others with the roles they have assumed, aiding them in what is essentially an interesting attempt of role-playing.
As the group prepares for the impending nationals, the seniors face the daunting realization that they will have to leave behind McKinley High after this year. Naturally, emotions are running high as the group continues their preparation for the big competition. Meanwhile, Rachel and Kurt anxiously await word on their applications to NYADA, the New York Academy of the Dramatic Arts, a prestigious performing arts school.
Back in the glee club, Tina seems to be blending quite well as she tries to get accustomed to a new role. Coach Beiste advises her to make the most of the new perspective she's gained as she takes on that unique personality. For instance, Tina begins to see things from Mercedes' perspective. At first, she finds it tough to imitate Mercedes when the group needs someone to sing in her place, but gradually she appears to be getting the hang of it.
On the other hand, Finn and Puck decide to join the glee club, with their only intended purpose being to attempt to steal the trophy from The Troubletones. This audacious plan, however, forces the members of New Directions to dig deep to find their inner strength to keep their group out of unwanted trouble, especially when Finn and Puck start taking everything too lightly. If they keep losing their focus, the nationals may just slip away from them once again.
Finally, the episode ends with good news and bad news- the good news is the Nationals are happening in Chicago, and the bad news: only 12 of the members will travel with the team. The group is worried about the implication of it all and starts strategizing for travel spots. Their unique preparation does teach them to be grateful and they understand the importance of solidarity. The episode depicts some excellent character growth as well, showing how a little push in the right direction and a new perspective can help someone blossom.
In conclusion, the Props episode is one of the must-watch episodes of Glee season 3. The engaging theme, witty humor, and well-executed plotline make the episode an exciting watch from start to finish. The touching end of the episode leaves one pondering about their own life and personal growth. Highly recommended for all fans of Glee.
