In season 2 episode 14 of Glee, titled "Blame It on the Alcohol," the members of the Glee club get a little too carried away with their newfound love of alcohol. The episode begins with a flashback to the previous weekend, when Rachel and Blaine attended a party at Dalton Academy and got drunk for the first time. The two end up making out, leading to some awkward tension when they return to school on Monday.
Meanwhile, Mr. Schuester decides to teach his students about the dangers of underage drinking by having them perform songs about alcohol. The club decides to throw a party, where they experiment with various types of booze and quickly get out of hand. Santana and Brittany perform a raunchy dance routine to Kesha's "Tik Tok," Finn and Rachel have a heart-to-heart while intoxicated, and Mercedes ends up singing a soulful rendition of "Sweet Caroline" while passed out on the floor.
As the night wears on, things start to spiral out of control. Kurt and Blaine share an intimate moment, only for Kurt to regret it in the morning when he realizes he was too drunk to remember everything that happened. Meanwhile, Sue Sylvester catches wind of the party and decides to use it as ammunition in her ongoing mission to dismantle the Glee club.
Overall, "Blame It on the Alcohol" is a lighthearted but cautionary tale about the perils of underage drinking. The episode features several standout musical performances, including a hilarious rendition of "One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer" by the always-entertaining Mike O'Malley, who plays Kurt's father Burt. But beneath the surface, the episode also tackles some serious issues, such as peer pressure, consent, and the toxic culture of binge drinking.
As always, the talented cast of Glee manages to balance humor and heart in equal measure, making for a memorable episode that leaves audiences thinking long after the credits roll.
