Ep 13. Comeback

In the thirteenth episode of the second season of Glee, entitled "Comeback," the focus is on the club's newest member, Sam Evans. Every member of the glee club is feeling pressures from different sources but Sam finds himself struggling the most. With his football career in jeopardy and his relationship with Quinn on the rocks, he turns to the one thing that has always been a constant in his life: singing.

The episode begins with the news that Brittany has broken up with Artie and is now dating Santana. Although Artie is heartbroken, Brittany invites him to help her with a “sex-ed” assignment, to which he agrees, hoping this could be his opportunity to win her back. Meanwhile, Mr. Schuester decides to help Sam boost his confidence by having him lead the glee club in a performance. However, Sam's nerves cause his voice to crack, which leads the rest of the club to realize that they also have not been practicing as much as they should be.

In an effort to motivate the group, Rachel decides to create a tribute band to Fleetwood Mac called "The Mac Attack" and begins recruiting members. Finn, who is trying to deal with his feelings for Rachel, decides to join the band as well, only to find out that Rachel has invited Sam to join her as the lead man. Finn is not happy about this development and coupled with his heartbreak, he decides to take matters into his own hands.

In the meantime, Sue, who has been sidelined from the Cheerios due to injury, decides to run for congress and invites Kurt to be her campaign manager. Kurt is thrilled to help out and convinces Sue to make her campaign about supporting the arts. Sue becomes a new advocate and supporter of the glee club, which not only gains them more publicity but also gets them closer to their dream of being able to perform at nationals.

As the episode progresses, we see Artie and Brittany connecting while working on the sex-ed assignment, and Sam and Quinn rekindling their relationship. "The Mac Attack" fails to get a good reception at their first gig, which forces them to reexamine their approach to music. The club decides to stage "Silly Love Songs" day where they all perform love songs, and it is a huge success. Finn is able to come to terms with his feelings for Rachel and encourages her to keep pursuing her dreams, even if it takes her away from him.

In the end, Sam successfully leads the glee club in a performance of "Billionaire" and wins the admiration and respect of his fellow glee club members. Sue, who is now a supporter of the arts, surprises everyone by allowing the glee club to perform in the auditorium, as opposed to the basement. "Comeback" takes us on a rollercoaster ride of emotions, showcasing each character's growth and path towards understanding their true selves.
