In the second season of the hit Disney Channel show Girl Meets World, the episode titled "Girl Meets Money" sees the lovable characters exploring the world of finance and economics. The show centers around the coming-of-age story of Riley Matthews (Rowan Blanchard), the daughter of Cory and Topanga Matthews, who were the main characters on the hit show Boy Meets World. Alongside her best friend Maya Hart (Sabrina Carpenter) and their classmates Farkle Minkus (Corey Fogelmanis) and Lucas Friar (Peyton Meyer), Riley navigates the ups and downs of growing up while learning important life lessons along the way.
In this episode, Riley and her classmates are assigned a project for economics class that requires them to come up with a business plan and present it to the class. Riley is excited for the opportunity to showcase her creativity and business savvy, and decides to team up with her best friend Maya to come up with a winning idea.
The girls spent days brainstorming ideas, but struggle to come up with something that they're both passionate about. Maya suggests the idea of starting a babysitting service, but Riley isn't thrilled about it and thinks they can do better. She becomes obsessed with the idea of creating a clothing line and strays away from collaboration with Maya. This leads to arguments between the friends, who struggle to find a compromise and work together.
Meanwhile, Riley's father Cory (Ben Savage) is dealing with his own financial problems at home. As a teacher, Cory doesn't make a lot of money and he's worried about paying bills and supporting his family. He tries to hide this stress from Riley and her younger brother Auggie (August Maturo), but they're able to pick up on his worries and become worried themselves. This prompts Riley to ask her dad for advice for her business project and becomes inspired by the lessons he shares with her from his struggles.
As Riley begins to understand the value of money, she and Maya finally decide to combine their ideas of a babysitting service and a clothing line to create "Babes Wear." They are met with obstacles along the way, like the difficulty in finding the right materials, but their teamwork and determination ultimately leads to a successful presentation to their classmates. The episode ends with the girls celebrating their success and Cory being proud of his daughter's growth and leadership skills.
Overall, "Girl Meets Money" is a touching and informative episode that explores the realities of financial struggles and the importance of collaboration and hard work. The characters are relatable and lovable, making it easy for viewers to connect with their stories and learn from their experiences. It is a great addition to the already impactful Girl Meets World series.
