If one orange in the box is rotten, the rest of them will become rotten before you realize it! is the 159th episode of the fourth season of the anime series Gintama. The episode was first aired on January 21, 2010.
The episode begins with Gintoki, Kagura, and Shinpachi being bored out of their minds at the Yorozuya's office. Suddenly, Seita, a young boy from their neighborhood, comes in and asks them to take care of his pet beetle. They agree to take care of the beetle and the boy leaves.
After some time, Gintoki and Kagura start to smell something bad and they realize that the beetle has died. They try to find a way to get rid of the beetle without making Seita upset. Shinpachi suggests that they should replace the beetle with a new one from a pet shop but they find out that all the beetles in the shop have died due to a strange disease.
Later, they find out that the disease is actually a curse on the beetles because the owner of the pet shop is a beetle collector who has been using a cursed box to capture and kill beetles. The curse on the box spreads to the beetles that are stored inside it, causing them to die.
Gintoki, Kagura, and Shinpachi come up with a plan to break the curse. They enter the pet shop and try to steal the cursed box. However, they are caught by the beetle collector who challenges them to a game of beetles. If they win, he will give them the cursed box but if they lose, they have to give him their lives.
The game of beetles is a version of Russian roulette in which they have to pick up a beetle from a box and hope that it is not cursed. If they pick a cursed beetle, they will die instantly.
The game is intense and it seems like Gintoki, Kagura, and Shinpachi are going to lose. However, Gintoki notices something strange about the games and realizes that the beetle collector has been cheating. Gintoki and the others manage to turn the tables on the beetle collector and win the game.
In the end, they break the curse on the box and return it to Seita. They also manage to find a new beetle for Seita and everything ends on a happy note.
