Ep 52. Episode 52 - If You Want to See Someone, Make an Appo First
- December 22, 2008
Sakamoto and Mutsu arrive on Earth after the former learns of Gintoki's arrest. The two of them go to Otose's bar to find someone who can help them free Gintoki. At the bar, they bump into the Shinsengumi, who explains that Gintoki's arrest had nothing to do with them and that they are just as clueless as Sakamoto and Mutsu. Hijikata does, however, offer to help them since they are all looking for the same thing - the truth.
Meanwhile, Gintoki is still locked up, but he has a surprise visitor in the form of Tsukuyo, the leader of the Hyakka. She reveals that Gintoki's arrest is part of a larger conspiracy involving the Bakufu and the Tendoshu, a group of powerful aliens. Gintoki is reluctant to believe her at first, but Tsukuyo manages to convince him that there may be some truth to her claims.
Back at Otose's bar, Hijikata and the others suggest that they split up to gather information about Gintoki's arrest. Kondo and Okita go to the police station, while Hijikata and Yamazaki investigate the Tendoshu. Sakamoto and Mutsu, on the other hand, decide to pay a visit to an old acquaintance who may have some information that could be useful.
The old acquaintance turns out to be Tatsuma, the leader of the Kiheitai, a group of terrorists who have been causing trouble for the Bakufu. Sakamoto and Tatsuma have a history together, as they used to be partners in crime before Sakamoto became a space pirate. Tatsuma initially refuses to help Sakamoto, but eventually agrees when he learns that Gintoki has been arrested.
Meanwhile, Hijikata and Yamazaki's investigation leads them to a strange building that seems to be connected to the Tendoshu. They try to sneak in, but are caught by some guards. Just when all seems lost, they are rescued by Katsura, who happens to be in the area. Katsura reveals that he has been investigating the Tendoshu as well, and that he may have some valuable information.
Back at the police station, Kondo and Okita are having no luck finding any useful information. However, they do manage to catch sight of Gintoki being transported to another location. They decide to follow the convoy, hoping that it will lead them to the truth.
As the various groups continue to search for answers, the truth slowly begins to reveal itself. It turns out that Gintoki's arrest was indeed part of a larger conspiracy involving the Bakufu and the Tendoshu. The Tendoshu are trying to get their hands on a powerful weapon that is being kept secret by the Bakufu. Gintoki was arrested because he stumbled upon this secret and posed a threat to the Tendoshu's plans.
With this information in hand, Sakamoto and Tatsuma decide to launch a rescue mission to free Gintoki. They manage to break into the secret Tendoshu facility where Gintoki is being held, but they quickly find themselves outnumbered and outmatched. Just when all seems lost, Katsura and his forces arrive to lend a hand. Together, they manage to defeat the Tendoshu guards and rescue Gintoki.
The episode ends with the group realizing that they are all fighting for the same thing - the truth. They vow to stand together against the powerful forces that seek to keep them in the dark, and to fight for what is right.
