As Sakata Gintoki, Shimura Shinpachi, and Kagura sit around, they start discussing the recent success of a teen idol group called "No Money". The trio scoffs at the idea of teenage girls acting out in order to gain attention and fame, thinking it to be silly and childish.
However, things take a turn when they discover that their own landlady, Otose, is a huge fan of the group and has spent all her money on their merchandise and concerts. She has even purchased tickets for a meet and greet event with the members. At first, Gintoki and the others think it's ridiculous for someone their age to be a fan of such a thing but soon after, they realize that there is nothing wrong in enjoying things that bring joy and happiness into their lives.
Soon enough, Otose goes missing just before the meeting. Gintoki, Shinpachi, and Kagura go out to look for her, hoping to get her to the concert on time. As they search for her, they come across a shady figure who offers to sell them tickets to the "No Money" concert. Gintoki doesn't trust the man and refuses to buy the tickets but Shinpachi and Kagura buy them anyway.
They finally find Otose and head to the concert, where they hear the members of "No Money" belting out a song that resonates with them. They realize that the group is not just about teenage girls seeking fame but that they have a genuine love for their fans and want to bring joy and happiness into their lives.
Soon after, the concert is interrupted by a rival idol group who try to put a stop to "No Money's" success. However, Gintoki, Shinpachi, Kagura, and Otose jump in to help the group and get them back on stage. Together, they perform a song that wins the hearts of everyone in the audience, and the day is saved.
In the end, the trio and Otose go home, content with the fact that they had a good time at the concert and that it doesn't matter what others may think or what age they are, it's important to enjoy what brings happiness into their lives without worrying about judgment from others.
Overall, Episode 30 of Gintama season one is an entertaining and heartwarming episode that reinforces the importance of not judging others for their interests and reaffirms the value of seeking joy in one's life without worrying about the opinions of others.
