Ep 12. People Who Make Good First Impressions Usually Suck

Gintama season 1 episode 12, titled "People Who Make Good First Impressions Usually Suck", follows the story of the Yorozuya trio, Gintoki, Shinpachi, and Kagura, as they take on a new job from a client who wants them to find his missing daughter. The trio easily find the daughter, Kaede, who is being held captive by a group of bandits.

However, things quickly take a turn for the worse when the trio realizes that Kaede is not who she seems to be. It turns out that she is actually the leader of the bandits, and she has been pretending to be a helpless girl in order to lure in unsuspecting victims. She reveals that she has set a trap for the Yorozuya, and they are now surrounded by her loyal followers.

As they desperately try to come up with a plan to escape, the Yorozuya learn about Kaede's tragic past and the reasons why she turned to a life of crime. They also discover that she has a soft spot for Shinpachi, who reminds her of her younger brother.

In the end, the Yorozuya manage to escape thanks to Kagura's quick thinking, but not before Kaede reveals her true identity to Shinpachi and begs him to help her redeem herself. The episode ends on a hopeful note as the Yorozuya reflect on their experiences and the true nature of first impressions.
