During his journey, Gin meets Smith, a wise old dog who understands the ways of the wild and the importance of unity among dogs.

Smith is the leader of the Ohu army, a group of dogs dedicated to protecting their brethren from the threat of the forest. Smith understands the potential that Gin possesses, and he believes that he can become the leader of the pack and fulfill his destiny of defeating Akakabuto. However, Gin is hesitant to join the army or take on such a huge responsibility at such a young age.

One day, while Gin is out exploring, he comes across an injured dog named Hiro, who is being attacked by a group of feral dogs. Gin bravely jumps into action and saves Hiro from certain death. Hiro is a member of the Bear Dog unit, and after seeing Gin's fighting skills, Hiro becomes convinced that he is the small hero who can lead them to victory against Akakabuto.

Gin is initially skeptical of Hiro's claims, but after seeing the determination of the Bear Dog unit and their need for a leader, he decides to join them on their quest to defeat Akakabuto. Gin's fighting skills are put to the test when they face their first opponent, a bear named Madara. Gin realizes that he has a lot to learn to become the leader that his father was.

The episode ends with Gin vowing to become stronger and smarter so that he can lead the Ohu army to victory against Akakabuto. "The Small Hero...
