Ep 1. Katie the Crook

Katie McCoy is a 14-year-old girl who has a tendency to steal. She has been in and out of foster homes since her mother passed away, and she has a hard time adjusting to her new surroundings. When she arrives at the Kanisky household, she immediately steals some jewelry from Nell's room. When she is caught by Joey, he agrees to keep her secret, but only if she agrees to be his personal errand girl.

Nell begins to suspect something is going on between Joey and Katie, and she confronts Joey about it. He admits that he's been asking Katie to run errands for him, but he doesn't tell her about the theft. When Katie is caught stealing again, this time by Samantha, she uses her charm to convince Samantha not to say anything to Nell.

Meanwhile, Nell is preparing for a big charity fundraiser and is stressed out by the fact that the decorations haven't arrived yet. When Katie offers to steal them from a local party supply store, Nell is hesitant at first but eventually agrees. However, the police show up at the fundraiser and accuse Nell of stealing the decorations.

Nell and the family are shocked when they find out that Katie is the real thief. They come up with a plan to teach her a valuable lesson, and they force her to return all the items she has stolen. In the end, Katie admits that she needed to be caught to learn her lesson and asks Nell to take her back into her home.

Gimme a Break! - Season 1 Episode 1 "Katie the Crook" is a heartwarming and hilarious episode that deals with themes of trust, responsibility, and the importance of family. The characters are well-written and the acting is top-notch, making this pilot episode a great introduction to the series.
