Rory is invited to cover a secret society event called the "Life and Death Brigade" where she is expected to participate in their daring stunts. To her surprise, Logan, her rich boyfriend, is also a member of this society. When she turns up at the designated location, a private airport, she is picked up by a guy named Robert in a helmet and full-body suit nothing short of an astronaut. The whole event is a secret, and Rory is made to wear a mask that has been passed down for generations. It is Rory's turn to climb up a tall ladder, hundreds of feet high, and jump into a net held down by fellow members of the club. Logan tells her that it is okay to back out if she is scared, but Rory continues anyways.
The next stunt involves taking a leap from a seven-story building onto a small, inflated bouncy castle. Both Logan and Rory make the jump, and their masks slip off during the landing. Next, they must run across the open road, dodging three vehicles. Rory and Logan complete this and head to a mist-covered town where they dance until morning on a platform suspended in mid-air on a construction crane. Later, Rory takes Logan back to her dorm room, where she admits that she is crazy about all of the night's activities.
Back in stars hollow, Lorelei is fighting off a slight cold and has become despondent over her possible future with Rory's father, Christopher. They head to a movie theatre and watch Weird Science together, revitalizing their relationship. Meanwhile, Mrs. Kim organizes a family-only event as an appreciation dinner for Lane's band members.
Lane invites her band's big boss to diner, and he ends up signing up the band's contract with a record company. However, the record label wants a replacement drummer before it can move forward with Lane's future. As word spreads out, Mrs. Kim thinks that Lane has done something wrong, and decides to send her away from home for a while. Even though everyone else thinks Mrs. Kim is quite unfair, it is Lane who realizes that the outside world doesn't work like stereo instructions.
The last installment of "You Jump, I Jump, Jack" is an action-packed and thrilling episode that fully immerses the viewer into the Life and Death Brigade society. The Gilmore Girls never fail to entertain their viewers, and the friendship between Rory and Lane continues to be a highlight of this heartwarming show.
