Lorelai and Rory are back in town once again in the popular television show Gilmore Girls. This time around, in season 5 episode 17 titled Pulp Friction, Lorelai is feeling optimistic as she reopens the Dragonfly Inn. Everything seems to be going smoothly with the business, but that doesn't mean that there aren't hiccups along the way.
Rory, on the other hand, is dealing with some personal issues. She's trying to come to terms with the fact that Logan is no longer around, and that's not an easy thing for her to do. Logan was one of the most important people in her life, and now she has to find a way to move on without him.
Meanwhile, Emily and Richard are having some problems of their own. They are about to celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary, but their marriage seems to be falling apart. Emily is upset that Richard doesn't want to take an active role in planning the party, and Richard is upset that Emily keeps going behind his back to make decisions.
As the episode progresses, everyone starts to come together to solve their problems. Lorelai has a heart-to-heart with Rory, encouraging her to be strong and not let Logan's absence define her. Emily and Richard also have a heart-to-heart, finally admitting that they have been taking each other for granted.
But things don't stay peaceful for long. When Lorelai's first guests arrive at the newly reopened Dragonfly Inn, they turn out to be none other than Christopher and his girlfriend, Sherry. The visit quickly turns into a disaster when Sherry goes into labor, leaving Lorelai to deal with all of the chaos.
Through all of the drama, Lorelai remains strong and is able to handle the chaos of the inn reopening along with the added stress of the unexpected baby delivery. The episode ends with Emily and Richard renewing their vows, Rory moving forward with her life, and Lorelai beginning a new chapter in her own life.
