Melinda is back for another episode of Ghost Whisperer in Season 3, Episode 3, "Haunted Hero." In this episode, Melinda helps a returning war veteran who has come back to Grandview hoping to piece his life together. The young man, who struggled while overseas, is now dealing with PTSD. He finds himself haunted by the ghosts of three soldiers from his unit who were killed in action.
These ghosts are not angry or dangerous, but they are still always around him, and their presence is haunting enough to make him feel like he is reliving his worst nightmares. As Melinda tries to help him understand what is happening, she starts to unravel a mystery of what happened to these soldiers.
As the episode progresses, Melinda learns that the ghosts are not there to harm the young man, but instead are trying to give him messages that he needs to hear. In the end, she helps him to come to terms with what happened overseas and explains that sometimes the ghosts we see aren't always trying to hurt us.
This episode also features several other characters from Grandview, including Ned, who is struggling to come to terms with his own abilities as Melinda's protégé, as well as Jim, Melinda's husband, who is dealing with his own demons after a traumatic event.
