Ep 2. Don't Try This At Home

Melinda and Jim get ready for their anniversary dinner while Delia and Ned prepare to go to the magic club together. Suddenly, a magician's assistant is found dead inside a cabinet during a solo performance, causing chaos in the crowd. Feeling a supernatural presence, Melinda is approached by the ghost of the assistant who pleads for her to find out what actually happened at the club. The assistant informs Melinda that the magician, Shane, is actually a fraud and that the accident was caused by a real ghost.

Melinda goes to see Shane at the club, demanding to know the truth. Initially, Shane denies any connection with the supernatural, but after some coaxing, he finally reveals that he has been using supernatural power to aid in his tricks. He tells her that he used a spell that he found in an old book to summon the ghost, before sealing it inside the cabinet. However, the spell was only meant to bring a manifestation of a ghost, not a real one. As a result, Shane is unable to control the ghost who is now wreaking havoc at the club.

As Melinda continues her investigation, she discovers that the ghost behind the incidents is actually one of Shane's former assistants, who died while performing one of his stunts. The assistant's ghost is now seeking revenge against Shane for letting her die, and she's willing to destroy everything in her way to do it. Melinda tries to convince the ghost to move on, but fails to do so. The assistant becomes increasingly aggressive, causing people to get injured in the club every time she appears.

Melinda decides that the only way to stop the assistant's ghost is to confront her directly and try to reason with her. She visits the assistant's grave and manages to convince her that Shane was not responsible for her death. Melinda helps the ghost to come to terms with her own choices and mistakes, urging her to move on to a peaceful afterlife.

With the ghost now laid to rest, the club is safe again for the public and Shane is able to continue making a living as a magician, albeit without the use of any supernatural assistance. Meanwhile, Melinda has managed to strengthen the bond between her and Jim after revealing her secret to him. In the end, they celebrate their anniversary together with a new-found sense of understanding and appreciation for each other.
