Ghost Brothers is a paranormal investigative reality TV series that follows three friends and frat brothers Marcus Harvey, Juwan Mass and Dalen Spratt as they travel around the United States to investigate various allegedly haunted locations.
In Season 1 Episode 1, titled "Magnolia Plantation," the Ghost Brothers travel to Derry, Louisiana to investigate Magnolia Plantation, which has a sordid past of slavery, tragedy and death. The plantation is located in the deep south and is over 200 years old, making it a prime candidate for paranormal activity.
The episode opens with the three brothers cruising on Highway 61, also known as the Blues Highway, towards Magnolia Plantation. They discuss the plantation's history and the negative energy that surrounds it due to the atrocities committed against slaves in the past. They also mention how the plantation witnessed the Civil War and was used as a hospital for wounded soldiers during the war.
Upon arrival at the plantation, the brothers meet with the owner, Mrs. Pat, who recounts her personal experiences with the paranormal. The brothers conduct a thorough investigation of the house, focusing mainly on a particular room where a slave woman was said to have been murdered. They find several pieces of evidence, including anomalous readings on their EMF meters and unexplainable noises in the room. In addition, they detect the presence of an especially negative energy in the room. They interview Mrs. Pat and her assistant to gain more insight into the history of the plantation and its paranormal occurrences.
As night falls, the brothers prepare to conduct a paranormal investigation. They use a range of ghost hunting equipment such as thermal cameras, digital voice recorders, and night vision cameras to capture evidence. During their investigation, they hear footsteps, knocking sounds, and strange whispers. They also capture several anomalous readings on their equipment, as well as unexplained orbs and shadows. The brothers describe how several of their pieces of equipment stopped working all of a sudden when they entered the slave woman's room, suggesting the energy there may be too strong for the technology to handle.
The night's investigation also includes running through the grounds outside of the plantation. The brothers describe how they heard voices and saw unexplainable movements. In general, the investigation puts a lot of emphasis on the personal experiences of the brothers rather than what they find through the technology.
As the night draws to a close, the brothers gather together the evidence and experiences they've collected and review them. The episode concludes with the brothers agreeing that Magnolia Plantation is indeed haunted by negative energy originating from the plantation's past. They vow to continue investigating throughout the season and hopefully uncover more about the plantation's past and present paranormal activity.
In summary, Ghost Brothers Season 1 Episode 1: "Magnolia Plantation" is an engaging and interesting start to the series, featuring a historic and supposedly haunted location. The brothers' investigation is complemented by atmospheric shots of the plantation and informative interviews with the owner. The episode provides an insight into their approach to investigating paranormal activity and showcases the range of equipment they use. Viewers are left with a desire to follow their subsequent investigations and see what further secrets and experiences the brothers will uncover in their investigations of other allegedly haunted locations.
