Ep 19. Sailors' Snug Harbor - Staten Island
- January 18, 2013
In the 19th episode of the 7th season of Ghost Adventures, the team travels to Staten Island to investigate the infamous Sailors' Snug Harbor. Built in the 1800s, the harbor was originally a retirement home for sailors and today serves as a cultural center and museum. But reports of paranormal activity have plagued the site for years, leading many to believe that the spirits of former sailors still haunt the grounds.
As they begin their investigation, Zak, Nick, and Aaron meet with historian Geri Solomon, who provides them with some background information about the harbor. She tells them that there have been countless reports of ghostly apparitions, strange noises, and unexplained phenomena throughout the years. Some visitors have even reported feeling as though they are being touched or pushed by an unseen force.
The team wastes no time in getting to work, setting up their equipment and conducting an initial walkthrough of the property. As they explore the various buildings and grounds, they begin to experience some strange occurrences themselves. Nick reports feeling a cold breeze in a warm room, and Zak claims to have heard footsteps following him down a staircase.
As they delve deeper into the investigation, the team decides to try a new tactic -- a sensory deprivation experiment. This involves isolating each team member in a pitch-black room with no sensory input, forcing them to rely solely on their other senses. While each member has a unique experience, they all report feeling a sense of unease and being watched.
Later on, the team explores one of the harbor's most notorious locations -- the Matron's Cottage. Legend has it that a former matron, Mary Swain, drowned in a nearby pond and has been seen wandering the cottage ever since. As the team conducts an EVP session in the cottage, they hear what sounds like a woman's voice responding to their questions.
The investigation reaches a climax as the team makes their way to the old infirmary, where many people have reported seeing full-body apparitions. As they begin their lockdown, they are immediately met with strange noises and unintelligible whispers. As they conduct an EVP session, they capture a chilling response to one of their questions -- a deep, guttural voice saying "kill them."
Throughout the investigation, the team constantly finds themselves on edge, with unexplained occurrences happening all around them. But as they wrap up their investigation and bid farewell to Sailors' Snug Harbor, they can't help but feel that they've left some unanswered questions behind. Will the spirits of former sailors continue to haunt the harbor? Only time will tell.
