Ep 15. House of Wax (1)

Maxwell Smart, a bumbling secret agent for CONTROL, returns in the hit comedy series, Get Smart. In season 5 episode 15, titled House of Wax (1), Max is assigned to investigate a mysterious wax museum that is suspected of being a front for KAOS, CONTROL’s enemy organization.

As is typical for Max, things quickly take a turn for the worse when he accidentally knocks over a wax figure, revealing a live man inside who promptly attacks Max before escaping. Max and his partner Agent 99, played by Barbara Feldon, begin to investigate further and discover that the wax museum is actually a KAOS hideout.

The KAOS agents, led by the villainous Mr. Big, are using the wax museum to hide a bomb they plan to use to destroy a nearby missile base. Max and 99 race against the clock to locate the bomb and stop KAOS’s plan before it’s too late.

However, their investigation is complicated by the fact that KAOS has also placed a robotic duplicate of Max in the museum to throw them off their trail. This leads to some comedic moments as Max and his replica interact in wacky and confusing ways.

As the episode unfolds, Max and 99 face a series of obstacles and close calls as they try to prevent the bombing. Along the way, they enlist the help of scientist Professor Windish, who provides them with a device to locate the bomb.

The tension builds as Max and 99 use the device to sweep the museum for the bomb, all while trying to avoid detection by the KAOS agents. Will they be able to find the bomb in time and stop KAOS’s plan? You’ll have to watch to find out.

Get Smart was a popular show that ran from 1965-1970 and was known for its witty writing, slapstick humor, and memorable characters. The show was a parody of spy movies and TV shows of the time, and often played off of the Cold War politics of the era. House of Wax (1) is a classic episode that showcases the show’s trademark blend of action, humor, and intrigue.
