Maxwell Smart is an agent of CONTROL, a covert spy agency that battles the evil agents of KAOS. In The King Lives? (season 3, episode 14), Max is sent to investigate the mysterious death of King Charles XIII of the country of Karovia. While investigating the death, Max discovers that the King may not actually be dead, but instead has been kidnapped by KAOS.
Max enlists the help of his partner, Agent 99, and together they follow leads to track down the missing King. They meet a beautiful woman who claims to be the King's wife, but when she turns out to be a KAOS agent, they realize that the situation is much more complex than they thought.
With the help of local Karovian contact Bronzefinger, Max and 99 infiltrate a secret KAOS hideout in the basement of a wax museum, where the King is being held captive. However, when their mission is compromised and they are captured by KAOS, it's up to the King to save the day with his knowledge of Karovian language.
As always in Get Smart, there are plenty of comedic twists and turns throughout the episode. From Max's bumbling attempts at Karovian language lessons to 99's clever disguises, there are laughs to be had at every turn. Fans of the show will appreciate the hilarious chemistry between Don Adams (Max) and Barbara Feldon (99), as well as the over-the-top antics of the show's many colorful characters.
