The Decoy is the seventh episode of the second season of the popular spy comedy series Get Smart. The show follows the exploits of bumbling secret agent Maxwell Smart, also known as Agent 86, as he battles international threats with the help of his partner Agent 99 and gadgets provided by their agency, CONTROL.
In this episode, Agent 86 is tasked with protecting a beautiful and wealthy widow, Mrs. Trueheart, who has amassed a collection of valuable jewels and artwork. Suspicious of a potential theft attempt, CONTROL assigns Smart to act as a decoy for the real Mrs. Trueheart, who is being secretly moved to a safe location.
Smart dons a wig and dress to assume the role of Mrs. Trueheart, but his cover is quickly blown when a group of thieves arrives to steal the jewels. In a comedic sequence filled with mistaken identities and physical gags, Smart attempts to keep the robbers at bay while waiting for backup from Agent 99 and the rest of the CONTROL team.
Meanwhile, the real Mrs. Trueheart is held captive by the thieves, who are demanding a ransom for her release. Agent 99 is sent to negotiate a deal with the kidnappers, but finds herself in danger when they become suspicious of her identity.
As the situation escalates, it becomes clear that there is more at stake than just a simple jewel heist. Smart and Agent 99 must race against time to foil the villains' larger plot and rescue Mrs. Trueheart before it's too late.
The Decoy showcases the classic blend of action, humor, and suspense that made Get Smart a beloved television classic. It also features standout performances from stars Don Adams and Barbara Feldon as the show's iconic lead duo. With its adventurous storyline and memorable characters, The Decoy is a must-see episode for fans of the series and an excellent entry point for newcomers.
