Get Smart is a fantastic American sitcom television series that revolves around a bumbling secret agent named Maxwell Smart. Maxwell is employed by a top-secret government agency known as CONTROL, and his sole job is to foil the plans of their enemy organization, KAOS.
In the third episode of the first season, titled "School Days," we get to see Maxwell go undercover as a high school student to thwart a KAOS plot. The episode starts with a montage of various schools being targeted for some nefarious scheme, and the government is none the wiser about the nature of the plot.
To get to the bottom of things, Maxwell enrolls in a high school, posing as a transfer student named Max Millar. He is supposed to identify the source of the problem and report back to CONTROL. Along the way, he meets the beautiful and charming Samantha, who he suspects might also be a KAOS agent.
Max's cover is immediately blown when he runs into a Russian agent in the school's hallway. This sets off a chain reaction of events leading to gunfire and a high-speed chase through the school. Somehow, the school principal and teachers are blissfully unaware of all this action unfolding right under their noses.
As the episode progresses, Maxwell infiltrates the high school and uncovers a devious plot by KAOS. They plan to smuggle a group of enemy agents into the country under the guise of an exchange student program. Their ultimate goal is to infiltrate the curriculum and brainwash American youth with their propaganda.
Maxwell's mission becomes even more challenging, as he discovers that KAOS has enlisted Samantha to act as his bodyguard. Though looking like a beautiful, charming teenage girl, Samantha turns out to be quite a hand-to-hand combat specialist, and takes Maxwell by surprise.
To make matters worse, the local police department is also investigating the nefarious activities in the school, leading to Maxwell and Samantha having to improvise on various occasions to keep their cover. They are forced to navigate the school hallways, avoid certain teachers, act out of character and even go to the prom.
Throughout the episode, we see Maxwell displaying his trademark incompetence and blundering his way through his undercover operation, relying on his trusty Swiss Army knife and his quick wit to get out of trouble.
He manages to evade the police, thwart the KAOS plot, and keep his cover intact, all while trying to keep up with his schoolwork and impressing his peers. With plenty of slapstick humor, witty one-liners, and unpredictable plot twists, "School Days" is a fun-filled and entertaining episode of Get Smart.
