In the sixth episode of season two of George Lopez, titled "No Free Launch," the audience follows George as he looks to take his career to the next level.
The episode kicks off with George holding auditions for a commercial he's landed for a Mexican restaurant. After a few unsuccessful auditions, he comes across a young actress named Haley who impresses him with her natural charisma and talent. However, when he presents her to the restaurant's owner and fellow executives, they turn her down due to her looks not being in line with their desired aesthetic.
Feeling frustrated and disheartened, George decides to take matters into his own hands and create his own commercial for the restaurant. He enlists the help of his son, Max, and his son's friends to shoot the commercial and comes up with a unique idea that he believes will set it apart from other commercials in the industry.
Despite initial hesitation from the restaurant's owner, George's commercial ends up being a success and leads to an increase in business for the restaurant. However, when the executive who originally turned down Haley sees the commercial, he decides he wants her for a different project he's working on.
In addition to his career struggles, George is also dealing with some family drama. His mother, Benny, is dating a man named Randy who George dislikes due to his overbearing nature and lack of respect for George and his family. At the same time, George's wife, Angie, is trying to plan their first family vacation, but George is hesitant to commit due to his busy work schedule.
As the episode progresses, George comes to a realization about his priorities and ultimately decides to put his family first and go on the vacation with them. However, he also decides to take a big risk in his career by quitting his job and pursuing his dream of opening his own restaurant.
