In episode 11 of GATE season 1, titled "Visitor," the Special Region forces prepare for the arrival of the enigmatic emissary from the Empire who has come to negotiate a peace treaty with Japan. While some of the soldiers see this as an opportunity to end the war and return home, others are skeptical of the Empire's intentions and the possibility of betrayal.
The episode begins with a scene of Rory and Lelei talking about the upcoming negotiation. Rory warns Lelei that she should be prepared for anything since the emissary's arrival might not mean what they think it does. Meanwhile, the Japanese army is busy setting up a meeting room and other facilities for the emissary's reception. They even go so far as to prepare a special welcome with an honor guard, which Itami promises to lead.
As time passes, the emissary arrives with a small entourage of guards. Upon their arrival, Itami, Rory, and the others take note of how heavily armed the guards are, prompting concerns about their real intentions. The emissary is then introduced to the Japanese delegation, including the foreign affairs minister and a representative of the JSDF. The emissary introduces himself as Zorzal, the Crown Prince of the Empire.
Throughout most of the episode, the focus is on the negotiations between Zorzal and the Japanese delegation. It's clear from the start that Zorzal has no interest in peace, and his true motives soon become apparent. He demands that Japan immediately withdraw from the Special Region and cede all territory they have taken to the Empire. He also demands that all technological and military aid be handed over to them. The Japanese delegation is taken aback by these demands and try to reason with Zorzal, but he remains stubborn and aggressive.
While the negotiations are going on, some of the Special Region forces are growing restless outside. Both sides fear an attack could happen at any moment, and both sides come very close to pulling the trigger. The tension is palpable, and it's clear that any wrong move could lead to disaster. However, just when it seems like everything is going to fall apart, something unexpected happens.
I won't spoil the ending, but I will say that it's a major turning point in the series. It sets the stage for the rest of the season and beyond, and it will leave you hungry for more. Overall, episode 11 of GATE is another great entry in the series. It's tense, action-packed, and full of surprises. If you're a fan of the show, you won't want to miss this one!
