The episode "Shadow Slasher" from season 1 of Garo: The Animation revolves around Sword, León, and Germán, and their efforts to defeat the horror that has possessed their abode, where Alfonso tries to help them.
Alfonso, Germán's former disciple, arrives and informs the trio that the Golden Knight, Garo, is coming to the city for help. However, before he could provide any further information, they are attacked by a shadowy figure. The figure is revealed to be the Shadow Knight, Garo's long-time rival and a fallen Makai Knight who has turned to the side of darkness.
The Shadow Knight overwhelms Sword and León, who are still recovering from their previous battles, and presses his attack on Germán. Germán struggles against the Shadow Knight, but ultimately, he becomes possessed by the Makai Blade and transforms into Garo.
Sword and León are stunned to find Germán being transformed into Garo, as Germán had never wielded the Makai Blade before. Meanwhile, the Shadow Knight escapes, leaving Sword and León to explain to Alfonso what happened.
Germán, now transformed into Garo, is unable to control the power of the Makai Blade and goes berserk. Seeing Garo's uncontrollable rage, Alfonso attempts to subdue him before he can do any harm. However, the Shadow Knight appears once again and confronts Garo. The two engage in a fierce battle, with Garo struggling to control his newfound power.
As the fight progresses, the Shadow Knight reveals that he plans to use Garo to destroy the Makai Order once and for all, and that he has no intention of fighting him to the death. The Shadow Knight ultimately takes his leave, leaving Garo to ponder his newfound power and his role within the Makai Order.
As the episode draws to a close, Sword and León confront Germán about his transformation into Garo, and the three resolve to work together to find a way to control the power of the Makai Blade. Alfonso vows to help them in their quest, and the four set out to train and become stronger, in order to face the Shadow Knight and protect the Makai Order from his evil intentions.
Overall, "Shadow Slasher" is a gripping episode that explores the themes of power, control, and the responsibilities that come with both. The action is intense and well-choreographed, with the fight scenes between Garo and the Shadow Knight being particularly exciting. The character development is also strong, as we see the various characters grappling with their newfound roles and seeking to understand their place within the Makai Order. Fans of Garo: The Animation should definitely not miss this episode.
