Ep 12. City of Stone (4)

In Gargoyles season 2 episode 12, entitled "City of Stone (4)", the storyline continues to chronicle the aftermath of the events at Wyvern Hill which saw a feud between Xanatos, Macbeth, Demona and the gargoyles.

The episode picks up with Goliath and Bronx hearing a strange voice calling out to them, leading them to stumble upon a group of homeless people being menaced by two stone gargoyles. Meanwhile, Elisa has tracked down Macbeth, who is back in New York and still under the influence of the Weird Sisters who seek their revenge. Demona and Thailog are also in town, presumptuously preparing to take their revenge on Xanatos.

As the gargoyles struggle to fight Macbeth's spell, the episode flashes back to a crucial moment in the lives of Xanatos and his wife Fox, when they both had a terrible run-in with the ruthless predator that is Demona. The incident forces both of them to confront their pasts and decide where their alliances truly lie. With help from the ghosts of the humans who were affected by the feud decades ago, the gargoyles and their allies all finally band together in an attempt to defeat Demona and Thailog and put an end to their violence for once and for all.

The episode concludes with the gargoyles resuming their roles as protectors of the city, now with a newfound sense of purpose and a greater understanding of the weight of their responsibilities; they know now that, even as the sole survivors of their kind, they are part of something much greater than themselves. An emotional and action-packed episode packed with bold new twists in the ongoing Gargoyles mythology.
