Garage Squad is a popular American automotive reality TV show that revolves around a team of experts who restore cherished classic cars to their former glory. In season 4 episode 1 titled "A Tri-Five Comes Alive", the team makes their way to Indiana, where they have been called upon to help a man by the name of Chuck, who has a 1957 Chevy Nomad parked in his garage that he's been working on for years but has never been able to get running.
Chuck has always been a car enthusiast and has dreamt of restoring this car since he was a young boy, but the process has been a long and arduous one, with several challenges along the way. The car has been sitting in his garage for over a decade, and Chuck has tried his best to restore it to its former glory, but the trials and tribulations he has faced over the years have left him feeling defeated and demoralized.
The Garage Squad team is made up of ace mechanic Joe Zolper along with the team's project manager Cy Kellogg and co-host Bruno Massel, who are all experts in their field. Upon first inspection, the Nomad appears to be in pretty rough shape, with rust, a dirty engine, and a host of other problems that need addressing.
The team gets to work right away, starting with the engine, which has been sitting idle for years. They begin by draining the oil and flushing the engine to get rid of any debris that may have accumulated during the car's long hiatus. The car's electrical system also needs to be completely overhauled before the car can be started, and the team gets to work cleaning and repairing the various components.
Next up, the team tackles the rust. They use a combination of sandblasting and grinding to remove as much of the rust as possible, followed by a rust converter to protect the remaining metal from further corrosion. Any missing or damaged body panels are carefully removed, and new ones are sourced and installed.
The team's attention then turns to the interior of the car, which has seen better days. The seats are worn and torn, and the carpet is threadbare. The team removes all of the old material and installs new upholstery, padding, and carpets, giving the inside of the car a fresh new look. They also install a new sound system and upgrade the car's air conditioning system, making it much more comfortable to drive.
As the restoration process comes to an end, the team performs a series of tests and inspections to ensure that all of the car's systems are functioning properly. They take the car for a test drive, during which Joe and Bruno take turns behind the wheel. The Nomad runs beautifully, and the team feels a sense of pride and satisfaction as they watch Chuck's face light up with joy and excitement.
In the end, the team has accomplished what Chuck thought was impossible, and they are ecstatic to present him with his dream car fully restored. The final moments of the episode are emotional, as Chuck takes the car out for a spin and the team watches with pride as their hard work pays off. The episode leaves the viewers feeling uplifted and inspired, and serves as a testament to the power of perseverance, hard work, and the love of classic cars.
