In the third episode of Game of Thrones season 1, titled "Lord Snow," viewers are taken deeper into the world of Westeros, as the various characters begin to become more intertwined.
The episode opens with a training session at Castle Black, the home of the Night's Watch, where Jon Snow continues to struggle with his training while also trying to fit in with his cohorts. Meanwhile, back in King's Landing, Ned Stark continues to adjust to life as Hand of the King, as he works to decipher the Lannisters' true intentions and protect his family.
As Ned begins to investigate the suspicious death of his predecessor, Jon Arryn, he sends his trusted advisor, Baelish, to investigate a particularly shady brothel in the city. There, Baelish uncovers a secret plot involving one of the Lannisters, which could have dire consequences for the seven kingdoms.
Meanwhile, Daenerys Targaryen begins to assert her power more strongly among the Dothraki, the nomadic tribe that she is married into. Though she still struggles with the traditions and rituals of her new life, she begins to find her footing and earn the respect of those around her.
As the episode progresses, tensions continue to rise within the various factions of Westeros. Jon Snow faces ridicule from some of his fellow Night's Watch members, while one of the Stark children is put in danger by a rival house. All the while, danger looms on the horizon, as winter approaches and the Night King and his army of the undead begin to stir.
Overall, "Lord Snow" is an action-packed episode that deepens the intrigue of the series while also offering glimpses into the various characters' motivations and personalities.
