When Fry, Bender, and Leela respond to an alarm, they find themselves at the world's largest pharmaceutical company, MomCorp. Turns out the alarm was triggered by a trio of mutants trying to break in. Once the mutants flee the scene, the Planet Express crew approaches the CEO of MomCorp, Mom herself. Although Mom tries to play it cool, it's clear she's terrified of the mutants and their strange abilities. Back at headquarters, Fry, Bender, and Leela decide to take action to help protect the city. They use MomCorp's technology to become superheroes, complete with powers like super strength, flight, and invisibility. However, as they navigate their new superhero personas, they quickly realize that being a hero isn't as glamorous as they thought it would be. Meanwhile, Fry starts to get cocky about his newfound abilities, even going so far as to use his powers to steal Leela's underwear. In true Futurama fashion, the episode is equal parts hilarious and heartwarming. The characters confront important questions about what it means to be a hero, and whether or not they're really cut out for the job. Overall, "Less Than Hero" is a standout episode of a standout series, and a must-watch for fans of sci-fi, animation, or just weird humor.
