In the second episode of Futurama's first season, titled "The Series Has Landed", the audience is introduced to the exciting world of space travel. The episode starts off with Fry, Leela, and Bender being sent on a mission to the moon to deliver a package. The trio finds themselves excited about taking a trip to the lunar surface, but soon discover that the moon landing area has been turned into a cheesy amusement park called "Luna Park".
Despite their initial disappointment, the group decides to make the best of their situation and explore the park. While there, they check out various attractions, including a weightlessness simulator, a virtual reality "ride" that transports them to the Wild West, and a food stand that serves up "lunar cheesesteak" made from giant moon worms. Fry, being a big fan of science fiction movies, hopes to find a souvenir from one of his favorite films, "Destination Moon".
As they explore the amusement park, the group becomes suspicious of the park's owner, a shady individual named Poppler. When they learn that the "lunar cheesesteak" they have been eating is made from a newly discovered species of worm called "Popplers", they become outraged and decide to stage a protest. However, they are quickly arrested by the park's security guards and taken to the park's headquarters.
While in captivity, Fry discovers that the souvenir he has been searching for is actually stored at the park's headquarters. He convinces his friends to help him get the item, using their various skills to break out of their cell and make their way through the park's ventilation system.
Once they reach the souvenir room, they discover that Poppler has plans to harvest the inhabitants of a nearby planet for use as amusement park attractions. Fry and his friends successfully stop Poppler and save the aliens from certain doom. Inspired by their adventure, Fry, Leela, and Bender collectively declare that they will boldly venture through the universe from then on, marking their new chapter as a space delivery crew.
Overall, "The Series Has Landed" takes the audience on a wild adventure through a unique space-themed amusement park while exploring themes of capitalism, corporate greed, and the need for adventure. With its zany sense of humor and playful take on science fiction, the episode is a must-see for fans of the show and newcomers alike.
